About
Orchard Vale Trust

The Orchard Vale Trust supports adults with learning disabilities and aims to sustainably grow community service. It was founded in 1985 in Somerset with only two residents residing in the beginning. They support adults with learning disabilities to live life to the full by providing personalised support and enabling independence through several different projects throughout the community. The trust has four homes in Somerset providing housing to adults with different learning disabilities, catering to their requirements and comfort individually. The Hive is one of the major homes of the trust which concentrates on catering to each adult’s needs and wants. The orchard vale trust is committed to building connections with the local community in the interest of both parties.

Site Visit

Our group had the opportunity to visit the Orchard Vale Trust Centre on May 30th, which included the day-care centre Hive and the East Court Residential Area. At the Hive Centre, we had the chance to interact with the residents and participate in an art session. We were pleasantly surprised by how much fun the residents had and how they expressed themselves through painting. Communicating with the charity's staff and residents allows us to understand the objectives better. It occurred to us after noticing how much fun the residents had while drawing. As a result, we came up with the idea of printing t-shirts with paintings by residents. We also went to the residential area, where we saw one of the resident's gardenings. It was an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience at Orchard Vale Trust.

Our Objective

 - How to Set and Meet Fundraising Goals in the Smart Way -

Nonprofits, by their nature, depend on fundraising to deliver their missions and keep their doors open. This means that setting and meeting fundraising goals are frequently on top of nonprofit professionals’ minds.

The most simple fundraising goal is to increase recognition for the mission and cause for the project that you are raising funds for. Our objective is to increase awareness by portraying the capability of an OVT resident through ART by printing their work on T-shirts. Once people know the impact and importance of the mission, word-of-mouth will kick in, and more people will engage and donate to our cause.

- How to Set Fundraising Goals -
(SMART Fundraising)

There are many ways out there in which we can go about setting our fundraising goals. Thus, we have applied the SMART objective method for goal-setting.

s

Specific

The goal should deal with a specific area of performance or a specific KPI.

The goal is to raise £600

M

Measurable

The goal should be measurable, not subjective.

Raise an unrestricted amount

a

Attainable

The goal should be ambitious but remain within the realm of possibility.

We wanted to raise as much as we could through various streams but still needed to consider the realities of the scope of work involved.

R

Relevant

The goal should be connected to the overall mission and vision of the organization.

The goal will help OVT’s target audience – OVT Residents

T

Time-bound

The goal should have a deadline.

The campaign begins on July 30th and ends on August 14th.
